Sign Grant Program

puckA Sign Grant Program is available to assist local businesses.  The intent of the grant is to assist businesses in attracting more customers, and encourage and promote aesthetically pleasing signage. The maximum grant amount is $500 per sign or business, excluding the cost of any sign permits or building permits (permits are the responsibility of the business owner).  Grant funds can be used wholly for the cost of the sign frame, sign board and lighting, or used — with an additional investment by the business owner — toward the cost of a more expensive sign.  Any business located within the Urban Renewal boundary area is eligible; certain restrictions may apply.

Rehab/Facade Improvement Grant Program

In order to encourage economic development and improve the vitality of the City Center Zone, the Phoenix Urban Renewal Agency offers a Rehabilitation/Facade Improvement Grant Program for most buildings within the City Center area and other urban renewal areas west of I-5.  Limited funding is available and an application process is required prior to receiving final grant approval.

Program Description:  The purpose of the Grant Program is to 1)  rehabilitate and/or restore commercial, residential or public buildings to historically compatible exterior design, 2) encourage new investment and development in Phoenix, 3) encourage exterior designs compatible with the applicable design standards adopted by the City of Phoenix or by the Agency and 4) otherwise further the goals and objectives of the Urban Renewal Plan.

Changes include an expanded eligibility area (beyond the City Center zone), increased grant amounts (up to $40,000), and revised match requirements.    Please reference the downloads section at the bottom of this page for more information, then contact us to schedule an appointment to discuss your project.
